Thesis title :
Aging residents in existing social housing : between appropriations, attachment, and the need for housing adaptations - analysis of social landlords' responses
Summary:
A number of converging factors point us in the direction of the proposed thesis topic: demographic change, limits to the offer of adapted housing and dedicated facilities, and changing residential dynamics. The interest of the subject lies (beyond the relevance of the theme of ageing) in the attention paid to existing architecture and current lifestyles.
Indeed, contemporary architectural production more regularly associates adaptation and ageing with specialized or dedicated new housing. A number of issues underpin this research, at different scales: adapting housing, transforming ways of living, and changing roles and professions for social landlords.
